Millennial heritage, hornbooks have rocked our childhoods. Each letter has its reference word, images and colors. Vestiges of hornbooks were found engraved on Etruscan vases in the 9th century BC. Molière, Shakespeare, Jean de la Fontaine and Charlotte Brontë refer to it in their works. The hornbook is for our humanity the first teaching medium provided to children. Charlemagne would even have learned to write with it during his insomnia. This hornbook comes back to life after its first edition in 1890. It is a reproduction of illustrations of the “Grand Alphabet by G. Gaulard“, in partnership with the National Library of France. It will delight little ones who will decrypt the letters from the animals and adults alike who will return to their childhood for carefree gifts.
