Ayako Furness
Ayako Furness is Japan born, London based textile designer & illustrator/artist. She graduated with a fashion degree from Central Saint Martins in London, UK. Ayako worked at several luxury fashion brands including Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Alexander Mcqueen, Burberry as a textile designer. In 2016, she started working as an independent textile designer, illustrator/artist.
What is your source(s) of inspiration, what moves you?
Colour , shape & texture.
What is the most amazing present you ever received?
A baby!
Do you work at night or during the day?
I like working in the early morning.
The artist you crave for (at the moment)
I like installation art. Pierre Hughe, Olafur Eliasson etc…
Your favorite museum, your favorite drink
I like visiting galleries while traveling. Recently I was in Berlin for a gallery weekend.
Sammlung Boros was an interesting place to visit as the building itself is already unique.
Open studio is a good place to go as well. You can see artist’s working space and at the same time you can get to know the artist.
If I say « paper » what is first coming to your mind?
Plane.
